No Labels’ Ryan Clancy Discusses Prospect of 2004 Unity Ticket During This Week's Podcast.
No Labels Chief Strategist, Ryan Clancy, discusses the circumstances that would make “a third way,” specifically, a unity ticket, a potentially attractive alternative to the choices provided by the two parties that dominate the American electoral system.
Clancy emphasizes that No Labels would only field such a unity ticket if it were clear that the majority of American voters were unhappy with the nominees of the Democratic and Republican Parties. Then, and only then, might a unity ticket be presented to the American electorate, according to Clancy. What would be unique about a unity ticket is that it would not involve the creation of a new third party. The candidates heading a unity ticket would be centrists but still prominent members of our two main political parties.
At the present time, research by both Pew Research and Gallop indicate significant dissatisfaction with our two dominant political parties. If that dissatisfaction persists or increases, No Labels may provide a third way by qualifying a unity ticket to be placed on ballots throughout the United States in 2024.
“The availability of a unity ticket would be like an insurance policy,” Clancy said. “You’re glad you have it, but you hope you don’t have to use it.”
