Leni Riefenstahl, 1930s German filmmaker and propagandist par excellence, would have nodded approvingly. While lacking the grandeur Riefenstahl loved to capture in her extravaganzas, CNN’s Trump Townhall, nonetheless, presented the former President before a carefully selected fawning and cheering audience, chosen because they were certain to cheer on the Republican party's standard bearer. That, of course, is what today's likely Republican primary voters are predictably certain to do, and the CNN audience was, in fact, composed largely of likely Republican primary voters who CNN gathered at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, to cheer on the party's standard bearer, his inanities notwithstanding.
Yes, CNN wanted to communicate its 'new' news positioning - covering both sides of any issue rather than pandering to the left wing. To me, they accomplished that goal.
Trump, in my mind, is a has been. The 'polls' that are repeatedly covered by 'newspeople' are not worth the time spent reading their results. Few, if any, centrist or right leaning people I know will consider voting for Trump. To me, the purpose of the polls is to make sure that Democrats are frightened by the resurgence of Trump and will vote. Trump will lose in 2024 - if nominated by the GOP. I hope he is not!
I think instead of Trumpsters in the audience, they should have invited Independents who would have been more representative of the voters. They are the people Trump needs to convince to vote for him. He was “preaching to the choir” and valid questions were not raised. Of course, we all know that Trump doesn’t work like that. He needs his fan club to bow down and worship so he can bask in their adoration.
More nasty hate dirt from the left .
It’s either their mobsters or no one.
