That is, of course, what it was, and maybe still is—a Faustian bargain in which Republican leaders tolerated, if not condoned, the continued acceptance of Donald Trump as the leader of the Grand Ole Party. It has been an enormously expensive bargain.
When will the pundits who accurately keep attacking the immoral, power-hungry and scandalous Republicans also blast the tens of millions of voters who blindly keep electing them to office knowing that they will misuse their power to attack our vital institutions and erode our freedoms? The pundits appear frightened to chastise those masses of citizens who would scuttle their own precious democracy and freedom because of misplaced anger and bigotry. Those voters won’t miss their freedoms until it’s too late to retrieve them.
