I agree with Heather Cox Richardson . It is a strategic move to weaken Democratic chances in upcoming election. Democrat strategy better. get on this manipulation. Follow the money, who profits?

There two chess games happening simultaneously here - one driven by political power grabbing - players who want to end our democratic republic, and the other driven by economics and pure greed: .  The first was described accurately by Heather Cox Richardson - there is little doubt that this is a strategy to influence our upcoming elections.   President Biden and those in Congress who aren't actively celebrating, need to take action quickly.

The second game we've been playing for a long time: if this is not a wake-up call that we need to get off of fossil fuels and fast, then I don't know what is.   Yes - we need help in the short term, - we need to become energy independent -- find temporary resources for the short term.    But the wholesale destruction of remaining forests, wildlife and their habitat, as well as other carbon catch ecosystems in the interest of drilling for and burning fossil fuels, is not the answer -unless we are aiming for an uninhabitable planet and even more unimaginable suffering in our country and all over the world. Decades ago we should have been seriously investing in green energy resources rather than placating the oil and gas lobbies - we have been warned time and time again. Now we are paying dearly - big time - for the greed and short sightedness of every corporation and Congressperson that has profited.

Bill Gates has figured out a way to more safely harness nuclear energy and store nuclear waste -- his TerraPower just raised $750M toward development of nuclear energy technologies. Why not engage him and other trailblazers in economics and conservation to figure out a solution to our current predicament - before it's really too late.

Why has no one mentioned that the UnitedStates is sitting on mega amounts of oil, if this administration would just turn on the spigots!! As we say in Texas…..Drill Baby Drill!

And much of our energy and international dependency problems would go away. Fossil fuels are here to stay…..even as the world eventually evolves to more green energy. Let’s work together to get the energy debate back on track….for the entire world!

This week we saw the President proclaim, "no on f***s with a Biden. Apparently the Saudis didn't get the message. But what is left unsaid, is that we are living with the consequences of Biden's attack on America's fossil fuel industry and adherence to the Green Agenda.

While China and India continue to rely on coal based energy, the European countries and North American countries cower when a teenager Greta Thunberg lectures us on energy policies. And as Biden curries favor with the Iranians in trying to revie the deal that Obama negotiated and Trump cancelled, he further alienates the Saudis.

And now we have a President raising the specter of a nuclear Armageddon. We need to pray for America and the world as Biden is clearly in over his head.

The finger may also be from opec as representative of a larger total oil industry that has been vilified and worthy of civilized prosecution for the carbon it’s product emit. Perhaps understandable from a rejected and formerly embraced member in good standing of an international community in love with its products and ability to assist and in fact enable societies growth and prosperity. Certainly not a response to be embraced but understandable.

This is one example of the unintended consequences of this government's and media's hysteria over climate change. For a comprehensive discussion, I recommend this recent Reason presentation
