For me, the convincing argument for Trump's guilt is the answer to the question "Why now?" If the sexual encounter took place in 2006, but the hush money payments only came in 2016, _after_ the Access Hollywood tapes appeared but before the election, the answer must be "to influence the election." That's what shifted the falsification of records, a misdemeanor, into influencing an election, a felony. No shadenfreude, here; just relief in seeing justice done. Will the Supreme Court grant him immunity?
So the case is history. I think the case ought to be continue in the normal judicial system, ie., appeal process. I had expected a 'hung' jury but the verdict is what it is. I believe the unusual nature of the prosecution and the prosecutor's unabashed plan to find Trump guilty on something will give him a boost between now and November. I think that is unfortunate but it's what NY State has done to us.
